QUILT-O
Everyone should bring a fat quarter for each card you wish to play (it’s
like playing Bingo). The fat quarters are given out as prizes. Bring lots
of pennies to use to cover the card and at the end of the meeting the
pennies will be donated to the library fund.
We will also have installation of new officers.
Cotton Strippers
Circle Minutes
About 21
members welcomed new member Lindy Hammons into the group. The Sunbonnet Sue
circle group brought refreshments. Members agreed to continue with the light
refreshments so a sign up sheet was passed around. If you were unable to
attend the January meeting you will need to sign up for refreshments since
we have several months that do not have enough people.
Alena Helm sent more scissors and rotary cutters to purchase. Jane handed
out secret pal sign up sheets. Again, if you wish to sign up, call or email
Jane or pick up a slip at the Guild meeting. We will try to have them
distributed by February 1.
We agreed to try to baste in some quilts at the February
meeting. If you have a quilt to baste, bring the backing and batting and
those who arrive early can begin setting up. If we have more than two people
with a quilt to baste, we will put the names in hat and pick who gets to go
first. The last of the brown bags were finished in December so please return
any brown bags to their owners by Guild meeting. Hopefully in February we
can have a show and tell for the circle group of what was accomplished. Any
blocks for Fran Chadwick were given to Katharine and if you have forgotten
it’s not too late to make one and give to Katharine at the Guild meeting.
We had a great Shown and Tell and then Kay fixed Jane’s Featherweight
(thank you Kay.
Susan is making plans for the retreat in March. She also
found a new place to possibly have a summer retreat at Lake Tawakoni. All
the pluses & minuses were weighed against the cost and it was decided
there was enough interest for a July retreat (13, 14, &15) pending
checking out the electricity situation.
REFRESHMENTS for February will be brought by Paula Bowman, Ruth Bacon,
Michele Chitsey, Debra Hagar, Joy Gregory and Shirley Hogan. Remember to
bring your hand work or if you have questions about a project, we are all
there to help out.
Sunbonnet Sue Friendship
Circle Minutes
The Sunbonnet
Sue’s met for the annual January retreat (in lieu of meeting) at the home
of Pebble Rehm. Some came on Thursday, some on Friday and some even Saturday
morning. With her house still decorated for Christmas we tried not to make
too much of a mess. Everyone stayed up too late and we ate too much. We
worked hard though and tried to get as much work done as we could. The next
meeting will be at the home of Maxine Leverett.
COTTON BELLES GUILD CHALLENGE
The
Cotton Belles Quilting Circle would like to challenge every member of the
Cotton Patch Quilt Guild to participate in a community service project
during the year 2001 membership year. Please make a note of the projects you
work on and turn it in to any member of the Cotton Belles. In December of
2001 anyone who has turned in a note of participation in a community service
project will receive a small gift and acknowledgement of their efforts. If
90% of guild members have turned in a note of participation by the November
2001 meeting there will be a special gift presentation to the guild.
The Cotton Belles
UFO CHALLENGE
In January we will start the UFO
Challenge (Unfinished Objects). Come prepared to sign up for as many
projects as you want (be realistic). Challenge will run from January
to August meeting, plenty of time to clear out several projects???
This time the "charge" to participate will be one fat quarter PER
project. Then you get to choose a fat quarter when you complete each
one. Everyone is a winner!!! So......on your mark, get
set..........
| REMEMBER: Please
remember to bring your Friendship blocks for Fran Chadwick to guild
meeting on Jan. 25. Katharine would like to get these to Fran by the
end of the month, if possible. Remember, Rail Fence 6 1/2 inches
finished, muslin strip in the center, 30s fabric either side. Cut
strips 2 1/2 inches wide. Make as many as you would like to - sign
your name to the muslin strip of one of your blocks. |
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Pebble is
asking for 6 volunteers, preferably 2 from each circle to do a ten minute
demo for a skill night. See Pebble at the meeting if you can volunteer
before she volunteers you. Thanks.

We will be cutting 26 Squares this

squares to Sue Childers and pick yours up if you were in last month’s
exchange. There will be a sign up sheet for the next year. We are asking
those interested in doing the exchange to commit themselves through January

"WARNING"!! We have noticed a couple of cases of Displaced
Flipper-Dingers. We are afraid it might be contagious. If
you have not checked your Flipper-Dinger lately, you should find the members
that have had Displaced Flipper-Dingers, to find out how you can check your
Flipper-Dinger. We don't want this to become an
epidemic!

Happy Birthday!!
