Dear CPQG Member,

Hi all. I hope everyone had a grand and glorious Thanksgiving holiday this year. This is the time of the year that all the families come together to renew their love and bonding that has been stretched throughout the past year. It really is a unique time. I wish everyone the best holiday and the happiest finish of this year and the beginning of the new year. Our group has had a great year with all the help that it have given to the public, to our dear ones, and to each other. It really feels good to see all of us working together without a selfish thought. Thank you all!

Huey Nobles

COTTON PATCH QUILT GUILD

Regular Meeting, November 21, 2002

Kavanaugh Methodist Church, 6:30 pm

Huey Nobles presided as thirty-four members and four guests gathered at Kavanaugh United Methodist Church on November 21, 2002. We welcomed Kay Hatfield, Amon Nixson (who's already an unofficial member), Janice Tower and Linda Franklin.

BUSINESS

Betty Day announced that the first butterfly quilt is being hand quilted by the guild and will be awarded in May. The second one will go to a hand quilter in Plano.
Alice Cooney collected the write-ups for the items that will be displayed in December.
Anyone who would like to go to the March 6-9 retreat at Eufaula should contact Sue Childers or Jane Martyn. Plan to bring one pretty and one ugly fat quarter.
Jane reminded the Strippers to wear their hats to the December circle meeting and to remember that Secret Pals will be revealed.
Hurrah! Sherry Worley and Huey uncovered some long-lost goodies when they tackled the storage closet. Chief treasure was the guild banner that hadn't been seen since we moved from the museum to the church!
Pam Hodapp reminded all that the December meeting is the THIRD Thursday. Newsletter deadline is Dec. 9.
Pebble Rehm announced that we will each need a large-eyed needle - large enough for crotchet thread - at the December meeting. Those participating in the gift exchange should limit the gift to $5.00 or handmade. Pebble also announced that she is working on another Mystery Quilt, to begin in January. Those taking part will pay $5.00 for the instructions. Pebble has booked Jack Sheets, the sewing machine repair guru, for two workshops, Feb. 22 and March 22 at the church. Each session is limited to 15; the cost is $20.00. If interested, contact Pebble with a check.
The business meeting was followed by Show and Tell.

PROGRAM
Katharine McCaw presented a slide show of quilts from the DAR collection in Washington, DC. The items (not all were true quilts) represented three categories: one-piece, pieced, and appliqué, and covered the years from 1720 to late 19th century. Several were made from fabrics not in use today and others were quilted with hand spun thread. It's amazing that such works of art could be made without the benefits of rotary cutters, computerized sewing machines and Ott lights. Aren't we Blessed!

Following the program, door prizes were given out.

Respectfully,
Katharine McCaw, Recording Secretary

The F.I.S.H. Food Pantry is in desperate need of canned goods. They would also appreciate monetary donations. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Cotton Blossoms

The Cotton Blossoms have taken a break from new projects to give our members a chance to catch up on things already started. A road trip is planned for the 10th for lunch out, and then a trip to Celeste to check out the new quilt store. Our Christmas party will be on the 16th at the church in Commerce. We are looking forward to the new year, and we wish everybody a Merry Christmas and Happy Quilting.

Cotton Strippers

The November meeting was not held due to Retreat. For the December meeting:

1. Please remember your Secret Pal. You will get to find out who it is. If you are not able to attend, please make every effort to get your gift to the meeting ahead of time. Sign up for 2003 Secret Pals at the December meeting.

2. We will discuss our next project for 2003. Kay, Sue and Lisa are working on plans for a row-by-row quilt and will have ideas so we can get started at the January meeting.

3. Bring to the December meeting: 1 ugly fat quarter and 1 beautiful fat quarter. This will be a meeting you don’t want to miss.

4. Wear your Stripper hat. Those NOT wearing a hat will be in for a very special surprise.

December 11 is Solid Rock at the church building. Everyone should be participating and Katharine will be calling you to remind you to bring your dish. March retreat signup in now in progress. Give you check to Jane or Sue if you plan to attend. The dates are March 6-9.

Refreshments will be brought by everyone. Happy holidays!

Sunbonnet Sues

The November meeting was held at the home of Katharine McCaw. After a delicious meal of beef stew and cornbread, members talked about their trip to Houston and made plans for the 2003 meetings. Pebble scheduled her meeting for the first part of February. More information to come on that at the December meeting.

The December meeting was held at the home of Sara Bobbitt. It was Sara's Birthday and Maxine brought a cake which was totally enjoyed as were the refreshments served by Sara. Nine members were present. Donna and Jane are both recovering from a cold and Joan is taking care of her Mom. We all wish her our best. We worked on our own projects and discussed some future projects. We had a talk about how wonderful our grandchildren were and decided they were all just the greatest. Maxine had pictures of her newest great grandson and he is beautiful.

The January meeting place is still to be determined.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

I would like to thank you for my gift. It will be wisely used to have a quilt done in the near future and meanwhile will be in my quilting stash.

I wish to thank everyone for all the help given to make our latest Retreat a total success. We had a grand time, saw lots of deer, ducks and other wildlife. The armadillos were in hiding, oh woe is me! They were probably off pouting because Katharine was not able to come and see them. Every year at Eufaula just seems to get better, thanks to all the Captains that know and do their jobs so well. Thank you, Connie, for my Crown. A Queen needs a Crown and I will wear mine proudly. Thanks to Johnny's for the generous door prizes. Lots of projects were completed and Alice should be seeing some in her December challenge.

Sign-up for Spring Retreat is in progress. Spring Retreat will be March 6,7,8, 9 and Fall Retreat will be November 13,14 15, &16. Mark these dates in your calendar. Cost will be $30 for 3 days and $45 for the four days. Hope to see you there.

Thanks,

Sue

Happy Holidays, to you all! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It’s time to get ready for the upcoming Christmas season. The weather here is getting cooler which helps us all get in the holiday spirit!

Thanks to all who came to the Open Houses and North Garland High School show. The turnout was much less than expected, but all who stopped by my booth went away with smiles and great candles! Congratulations to Jennifer Holland of Rowlett and Susan Stooksberry of Sachse as winners of a free candle in November! I also had an office party that was a BIG hit! It just doesn’t get any more convenient than to shop during your lunch hour without leaving the office!! Check my website (www.timberlinemoon.com) for upcoming events in Rowlett and Garland during December. Candles make great gifts for those on your holiday gift lists and you know I have a fragrance for just about everyone. Remember, the Holiday fragrances are only available for a limited time and time is running out to order in time for Christmas. December 9 is the last day to order to receive in time so call me soon!

I wish you all a safe and loving holiday. Please remember those less fortunate and those who will not be able to be home for Christmas in your hearts and prayers. Deck those halls, y’all!!

Timberline Moon—Tracy Greenlee

Happy Holidays to Everyone!

Best wishes for a wonderful New Year !!
