People
rarely succeed at anything unless they have fun doing it!
Letter
from the President
Dear
Quilters,
As
I write this message I am making plans to go to Washington D.C. to be with
my sister. Her husband is in the hospital battling a rare sarcoma, and the
prognosis is very poor. There are times for all of us when we are made
more aware than ever of our mortality; and we are humbled by the
realization that we are not in control. Please keep my sister and her
husband, Jean and Earl Harrison, in your prayers.
I'm
sorry to miss the October guild meeting, but Pebble will very capably wear
more than one hat that evening. It will be a fun event and I hope, an
extremely successful one. Remember, this is your chance to clear out those
duplicate books, patterns you'll never in a million years make, gadgets
you've never figured out how to use but looked fabulous when you bought
them, and fabric from you-know-where! And who knows what treasures you'll
find!!
See
you in November.
Piecefully,
Katharine

Blossoms
The
blossoms met on September 17th at the Presbyterian Church in Commerce. We
have been putting the finishing touches on all of our donation projects.
We took 8 quillo’s to Boles Home last month. It is always fun meeting
the boys and girls at the home. We plan to make a road trip next month to
take our Ronald McDonald quilts to Dallas. That is one of the highlights
of the year for us. We met on October 6th at Madeline's quilt house. She
really has it fixed up nice. We enjoyed visiting and drinking Madeline's
pink lemonade. If you would like to join us we still meet on the 1st. and
3rd. Monday of each month at the Presbyterian Church on Monroe street in
Commerce at 3:00 p.m.

Strippers
Eight
Strippers and three guests braved the distance to Rockwall to take a look
at the new shop, Quilt Works, for their September meeting. We registered
for prizes for the Grand Opening, were given a set of sewing needles and
had a great time visiting and shopping. We adjourned for dinner at
Luigi’s and everyone had a great time. We got to meet Maxine’s
daughter, Tracy’s friend from work and Kay’s friend Carol who has
visited before. Joan was there too wearing her designer neck brace and
feeling much better. There will be NO meeting in November due to retreat.
Everyone will bring refreshments for our December Christmas party. There
will be no gift exchange.
If
anyone is up for another round robin project in January, several of us are
tossing around doing a “Blooming 9-Patch” round robin. We hope to have
examples of the quilt at the November meeting so we might be able to begin
planning at the December meeting.

Sue
A
small group of Sue’s met at the church. Katharine was our gracious host
and we had a wonderful dinner of soup and cornbread, plus a fabulous
chocolate cake for dessert of course. Everyone worked on their projects
and Kathy showed the finished top for the Samaritan House that she is
going to quilt. The November meeting will be hosted by Connie Cawthon.
